Tile Cleaning

Tile is very popular here in the Las Vegas area. Almost every home I go into has some inside their house. A lot of people are looking for a durable flooring that is easy to care for, so they choose to replace their carpet to install tile. For many, this is a good option but tile isn't maintenance-free so here are a couple of things to consider as you maintain your flooring:

  1. Wipe up spills as soon as they happen to prevent staining or other damage.
  2. Routine cleaning helps prevent the need for strong chemicals and hard scrubbing.

It really can be as simple as that. Remember though, unlike carpet, tile doesn't trap dust and allergens so they do become airborne more easily, so sweep or vacuum your tile floors regularly. This will help keep the allergens down in your home. Also a damp  mop should be done weekly.

So if tile is so easy to take care of why should you ever have it professionally cleaned? It is like going to the dentist for your teeth. Even when we brush and floss daily there are added benefits having a professional check and clean out teeth regularly if we want to have a white happy smile. Professionally cleaned tile will look a be cleaner and brighter and when sealed correctly, be much easier to maintain. So how often should your tile see a professional? We recommend every 12 to 18 months depending on your own maintenance and living habits.

We hope that this information is helpful and that you will use Precision Chem-Dry when you need carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning or tile cleaning in your home! So if you live in Summerlin, Las Vegas, Henderson or in between we want to help you have a safe and happy home!

How Disgusting is Your Carpet?

The average carpet can contain 8 times its weight in dust, dirt and other unwanted particles and contains hundreds of times more bacteria per square inch than a toilet seat. And that’s just the average! This test will help you figure out how nasty your carpet actually is – and even though you might not want to know, think about how often your kids crawl on your carpet and how this knowledge could help you prevent exposing your family to harmful chemicals, bacteria and allergens.

Pet Urine

Hi Las Vegas this is our dog Missy! We love her but she is an outside dog. We have a large backyard that she can run and play and chase birds (she catches them sometimes but dogs will be dogs). She seems very happy out there. We love to play with her and she is a joy in our life. The reason that she stays outside though is because she is a dog and with dogs come the occasional urine accidents. Often times people who have inside pets don't know or notice any urine spots that may have happened but others may as they enter the house.

What can a pet owner do to remove a urine stain or pet odor?

First, clean the area as soon as the accident happens. Use a wet vac if you have one but if you don't use an absorbent cloth like a terry cloth towel to absorb the urine the best that you can. Avoid using spotters that have a high PH or using things like vinegar which adds to the PH of the urine. High PH products clean well but also strips off protectants from the carpet fibers making it more likely to set the stain leaving a permanent yellow mark. Use plain water instead or a PH neutral spotter like our Professional Strength Spotter that we sell to our customers.

After the area dries, if there is still an odor, the urine may have gotten into the pad and even into the subflooring and at that point it is best to call a professional. When using Precision Chem Dry we will use a UV light to help detect the urine so we can treat it with a professional solution that is designed to break down urine crystals that may have built up beneath the carpet surface.  The product is called PURT and is very effective in eliminating urine odor.  We hope that these couple of suggestions where helpful to you as you try to keep a healthy and clean environment in your home!  And if you are looking for a favorite carpet cleaning company we service from Summerlin to Boulder City and everyone in-between!

Spring Cleaning

Spring is in the air! As it starts to heat up, many feel the need to do a little bit of “spring cleaning.” Although nobody really wants to spend their time cleaning and organizing, it gives a nice sense of accomplishment once everything is in the proper place. Like the old saying goes, “Out with the old, in with the new.” Especially in this case, spring is a good time of year to not only get rid of unnecessary “things” but also to enjoy time with family in nicer weather.

But with warmer temperatures also comes an increase in allergens. Chem-Dry recently conducted a national study showing that Chem-Dry removes 98% of allergens from carpets and upholstery! The second part of the study proved that Chem-Dry also removes 89% of airborne bacteria, improving indoor air quality. These tests are yet another proof that choosing Precision Chem-Dry leads to a healthier home!

Here in Las Vegas and Henderson spring has sprung! We already have seen blossoms on our peach tree and tomato plants. It is beautiful! I love the sights and sounds of the flowers and birds and get excited to see the days warm up (yes it gets chilly here in the desert though I can't complain much)! My family and I like to go camping locally, (like Knob Hill), or abroad, (we've already visited  Death Valley this year). I often wonder what people like to do too as the days get longer and brighter.

I don't know about you but for me spring also is a time to work in the yard and clean the house. I love yard work and making things look bright and beautiful but not so much house work. There is one or two things, well maybe 3, that I can do very well and they are carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning and tile cleaning. Sometimes it's not easy, as some of you can attest to if you have tried to do it yourself, but a clean house is rewarding to relax in when spring cleaning is all complete!

If you don't feel up to the bother of scrubbing your own carpets or tile you can give us a call and we'll be happy to take care of it for you. With our experience and equipment we can take the drudgery out out of the work involved and replace it with a positive experience. We want you to be happy and enjoy your spring so call us today!

Many people have questions about fabric protectants (some people call it stain guard or scotch guard) so I thought I'd write a few words about Chem-Dry's protectant to explain why I feel it is a useful product in maintaining your carpet.

First it provides excellent stain fighting power. Over time, factory applied protectants wear off, leaving carpets more susceptible to stains. To defend against spots and spills, apply protectant every time you clean your carpets or upholstery.

Carpets stay cleaner longer. Studies show that protected carpet stays cleaner three times longer than non-protected carpet. Protectant makes regular vacuuming more efficient, leaving your home healthier.

Protected carpets can last longer. Chem-Dry's protectant helps defend against permanent damage giving you peace of mind when the occasional spill happens.

During the month of March we are giving all of our Las Vegas, Summerlin and Henderson customers 50% off our protectant prices so call us today and schedule an appointment!  (That includes all that live within the surrounding areas)
